YES, we are going ahead with the convention in Adelaide, 12-15 August, 2021! However, it is with heavy hearts that we, the Convention Committee, announce that Judy Waymouth and her dancers are unable to attend because of International border closures due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Now that we have broken the news, we have a new plan to share because there's always a silver lining to all of life's ups and downs!
ANNOUNCEMENT re NEW Guest Presenter!
Josh King, is our newly appointed International Guest Presenter! Josh has kindly accepted our offer to come to Adelaide, 12-15 August 2021.
I was so disappointed to hear that Judy Waymouth would not be able to come to Australia this year to share her amazing talents with us at the 25th ACA convention. Covid has knocked the whole world for a loop, and has changed the way we do just about everything. Judy's great, and I really hope she can come over soon to dance with us!
That said, I always try to look for the silver lining in anything. We've had some fantastic dancing happening online over the last year-lots of teaching, fun dances, and community from all over the globe. And if I had to come up with at least one positive from lockdown (I know, it's hard!), it's having a bit of extra time to choreograph. One of my absolute favourite aspects of dancing is choreographing new steps and routines, and then being able to share those dances with others.
I'm grateful to be in Australia where we've all done a great job of working together to slow the spread of Covid. While I realise I have a geographical advantage over the many wonderful instructors overseas, I'm truly honoured to be asked to teach at the 25th convention, and am so very excited to share some new dances and clog with everyone! I can't wait to see y'all in Adelaide!
Josh King resides in Melbourne, Australia. He began clogging more than 30 years ago in Houston, Texas, USA and discovered a passion that would take him around the world, sharing his love of this unique American folk dance with students of all ages. Since then, "the Clogdog" has gone on to become a popular international clogging instructor teaching workshops throughout the U.S., Australia, Canada, and Europe. Josh has choreographed and taught many workshop favorites including National Dance List routines in both the U.S. and Australia, and the workshop classic "All Shook Up". In addition to leading and dancing on competition teams for years, he has been a judge at many premier clogging competitions throughout the U.S. After meeting his wife Della while teaching clogging at the Gympie Music Muster in Australia in 2004, Josh soon after relocated to Australia, where he continues to be active in clogging internationally.

Shooting Hints for Step-Teach Videos
If you are going to make your own Step Teach Video, read these guidelines if you want cloggers to enjoy and learn from your instructions!
The main things, in decreasing order of importance, are shown below.
VERY IMPORTANT
Hold the camera or phone in landscape orientation, like in the image. This is crucial for pleasing playback on TVs or monitors. Don't use a square Instagram format either.
Good sound quality, clear, no noise and adequate volume Play it back, and get someone else to check that they can hear & understand you clearly.
Instructor well lit with soft (not shadowy) lighting. Don't, if possible, have a bright background, like a sunlit outdoors, if you are undercover or indoors.
Use a tripod or monopod to hold the phone or camera steady, if you have one. This is not reality TV - users will want to study your feet!
Fill the frame vertically, head near the top, feet near the bottom. Most importanly, do not cut off your feet!
IMPORTANT
Focus on the instructor (not on the background).
Neutral or uncluttered background. Do not distract the viewer with messy backgrounds.
Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080px) if available on your phone or camera.
SETTINGS if you have access to them
Double speed frame rate (50 or 60 frames/second) preferable, but the standard (25 or 30fps) will do if not available on your phone or camera.
Recording format preferably AVCHD, MP4, MOV but anything your phone or camera produces can probably be handled.
Read this good article for phone users which gives another point of view on these matters, and the recommendations are equally important for camera users! Have a look at other Step Teach Videos, and at YouTube replays of the Worldwide Clogging Fun Dance and judge for yourself which ones follow these guidelines, and which ones don't!
